The Colorado College men's swimming and diving team swam away with its 2022-23 season opener Friday by defeating Nebraska Wesleyan, 169-49, at Schlessman Natatorium.
Â
Freshman
Edmund Davis was hard to stop in his first collegiate meet, posting wins in the 200-yard freestyle, 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle.
Â
Sophomore
Caleb Peimann had an outstanding meet as well, capturing the 50 freestyle and 200 backstroke, in addition to swimming the first leg on the triumphant 400 medley relay, joining
Collin Ralston,
Lucio Bollettieri and
Step Flanagan.
Â
Flanagan won the 100 freestyle, while
Owen Tennant captured the 200 breaststroke.
Mac O'Brien was a multi-winner on Friday as well in both diving events.
Â
"As our early season begins, we asked the team to focus on the technical aspects over the total times," head coach
Anne Goodman James said. "It was good to see them start to make those corrections, as well as to split races so evenly. We are looking forward to racing again tomorrow."
Â
The two teams will battle again on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Schlessman Natatorium, beginning at 1 p.m.
