Freshman
Edmund Davis set a school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle race Friday, but the Colorado College men's swimming and diving team fell to 23rd-ranked Trinity University, 140-103, in San Antonio.
Â
Davis, who led a 1-2-3 finish for the Tigers in the race, touched first with a time of 9:54.59, surpassing the previous record of 9:58.37 by Matt Nadel in 2015.
Â
Fellow freshman Lucio Bolletierri finished second (10:28.81), followed by senior
Will Barber (10:45.80).
Â
Davis completed the distance-double by also capturing the 500 freestyle race in 4:52.63.
Â
Several Tigers posted runner-up results as well, including junior
Oliver Spanton in the 50- and 100 freestyle, and sophomores
Jack Hussin (200 Free),
Collin Ralston (200 IM) and
Caleb Peimann (100 Back). Peimann also swam on the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams that finished second.
Â
In diving, senior
Mac O'Brien posted an NCAA regional qualifying score in both events on Friday, finishing second in the 3-meter with 289.90 points and third in the 1-meter with 449.35. Sophomore Aiden Richter placed second in the 1-meter with a regional qualifying score of 489.45 and was third in the 3-meter.
Â
This was a meet full of very good and close races. We were in them all against a very good team," head coach
Anne Goodman James said. "We raced well, and now need to get ready to step it up a notch against Southwestern tomorrow."
Â
The Tigers head to Georgetown, Texas for a dual meet against Southwestern University on Saturday, Oct. 22, beginning at 11 a.m. (MT).
