North Dakota completed a weekend sweep over Colorado College with a 4-0 victory Saturday night at Engelstad Arena.
Â
Zach Driscoll stopped all 23 shots he faced, four different Fighting Hawks scored and Riese Gaber added a pair of assists for UND.
Â
Colorado College goalie
Dominic Basse saw a lot of pucks early on, as he stopped Gaber, who was all alone in the slot, and Ethan Frisch, who seemed to have an open net from the left circle during UND's first power play.
Â
On the Fighting Hawks' second power play of the opening period, Frisch opened the scoring with his second goal of the weekend. During a power play, Frisch collected a rebound off a Gaber shot and Basse save at the left circle. Frisch's initial shot hit the side of the net, but he gathered the puck below the goal line and his second shot went off the post and Basse's pad into the net.
Â
North Dakota (17-11-1, 12-5-1 NCHC) added a pair of goals in the middle frame. Matteo Constantini scored with a wrister from the left circle during a 2-on-1 rush, then Brent Johnson notched his first career goal after his shot from the right boards flew past a screened Basse for a 3-0 advantage.
Â
Jackson Kunz made it 4-0 at the 5:49 mark of the third period. Luke Bast's shot from the right circle was stopped by Basse, but the puck came free in front of the net and Kunz knocked it in.
Â
"We just had too many turnovers tonight," head coach
Kris Mayotte said. "We didn't manage the puck well. We needed to establish a forecheck and we refused to do it."
Â
The Fighting Hawks were 1-for-4 on the power play, while CC was 0-for-3. Basse finished with 23 saves.
Â
The Tigers (7-18-3, 4-13-1 NCHC) host Miami University next weekend, Jan. 18-19, at Robson Arena.
