The Pirates trimmed their deficit to 44-42 on a pair of Taylor Carney free throws 25 seconds into the fourth quarter, but CC took the wind out of their sails by exploding for 16 consecutive points to break the game open. Southwestern scored the next five points to get to within 60-47, however Bayston scored the first three points in a 9-2 surge to put the game out of reach.
After trailing by 12 points midway through the first quarter, the Pirates battled back to take their only lead at 33-32 on a layup by Princess Roberts 3:31 into the second half. The Tigers scored the next six points, but were unable to create more separation before the end of the third quarter.

The 20-point margin of victory was CC's largest ever in a SCAC Tournament game. The previous high was last year's 70-56 win over Texas Lutheran in a semifinal game at Reid Arena.
