The Colorado College men's tennis team completed a perfect 5-0 record during its 2022 spring break trip to Orlando, Fla., with a 6-3 victory over Trinity College Wednesday at the USTA National Tennis Center.
Â
Freshman
Nate Beerman finished the week undefeated, winning all five of his singles matches at the No. 5 position, and five doubles matches with
Jacob Adas at the No. 3 spot, including an 8-4 victory over Jack Ginter and Pierce Rutledge on Wednesday.
Â
Alex Kley and
Lucas Pastor won at the No. 2 doubles line, defeating Dylan Powell and Eduardo Sanchez, 8-6, to go 4-1 during the trip.
Â
The Tigers, who held a 2-1 lead following the doubles matches, won four of the six singles matches.
Â
Aiden Little led things off with a 6-2, 6-3, victory over Henry Bilicic at the No. 1 spot, while
Lucas Pastor won at No. 4, 7-5, 6-1, over Jack Ginter.
Â
Beerman capped off his perfect week with 6-1, 7-6(4) triumph over Kartik Frodula, while Kley won his fifth straight match at the No. 6 position by defeating Charles Kilborn, 6-3, 7-5.
Â
Pastor (No. 4) and
Andrew Kaelin (No. 2) each collected a 4-1 singles record in Orlando.
Â
"This is the first time in my 10 years at CC we have gone undefeated on the Florida trip," head coach
Anthony Weber said. "Everyone had to step up throughout the week at key moments. In years past, we've had to be content with one win in doubles. When we begin to finish volleys and move better, we're going to be even tougher to beat.
Â
"We had some really big wins this week, especially against Hobart and NESCAC opponent Trinity College. It's hard to get a hard fought win on the last day, but that's what we did today."
Â
The Tigers (8-4) return to action on Saturday, April 2, by hosting Colorado Mesa University at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs, beginning at 11 a.m.
