Stockton University utilized a six-goal outburst during a seven-minute span to build an 8-3 lead and went on to record a 16-9 victory over Colorado College on Sunday afternoon.
After
Caroline Shay gave the Tigers 3-2 lead early in the second quarter, Stockton scored the final three goals of the first half to grab a 5-3 lead.
The Ospreys tacked on three more goals to open the third quarter before
Zoe Tomlinson put an end to CC's scoring draught with the first of her season-high three goals.
The teams traded goals until Jennifer Toal scored twice in a span of 36 seconds to give Stockton a 12-6 lead with a little less than 13 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers scored three of the next four goals to cut its deficit to 13-9 on Tomlinson's free-position shot with 8:03 to play, but that was a close Colorado College would get. Â Â
The Ospreys scored three times during the final 4:10 to seal the victory.
Stockton scored five goals on 11 free-position opportunities, while CC was 2-for-5.
The Ospreys fired 38 total shots, while CC had 20.
For the second day in a row,
Natalie Slade stopped 14 shots for the Tigers, giving her eight games with double-digit saves this season.
Stockton's Jordan Hawkes made eight saves.
Colorado College won 18 of 29 draw controls, while the Ospreys compiled a 29-15 edge in ground balls.
Toal and Holly Yannacone led Stockton with four goals apiece.
