Utah Valley University used a pair of second-half goals and handed Colorado College its first loss of the season, 2-0, Monday night in Orem, Utah.

Following a scoreless first half in which the Wolverines (1-0-1) placed five shots on goal compared to just one for CC, UVU's Heather Stainbrook broke the deadlock in the 51
st minute with a curling shot from the left corner of the box that deflected off the far post and in past Tiger goalkeeper
Ally Wakeman.

In the 58
th minute, the Wolverines doubled the lead. Nicole Ray sent a crossing pass from the left side of the box and found Julianna Carter sprinting down the right side. Carter knocked the pass out of the air past Wakeman.

Carter led all players with three shots on goal, while teammate Faith Webber collected a game-high four total shots. Utah Valley held a 17-4 advantage in total shots and 11-2 in shots on goal.

Wakeman finished the game with a career-high nine saves and UVU keeper Idalia Serrano had two.

"Utah Valley was a good test for us," head coach
Keri Sanchez said. "They came out with a lot of energy and we defended hard to keep it 0-0 at half. I thought we improved on our midfield connection and we just need to have a bit more urgency going forward. We are excited for our next test vs Bucknell on Friday."

Kaelin Enga each collected a shot on goal for CC (1-1-0) and Enga led the Tigers with two total shots.

The Tigers play their first home game of the season at Stewart Field on Friday, Aug. 26 against Bucknell University, beginning at 5 p.m.
