Second Half Rally Fuels Tigers Past Bucknell

Josie Morales and Kaelin Enga scored in the second half to lead the Colorado College women's soccer team past Bucknell University, 2-1, Friday night in the 2022 home opener at Stewart Field.

The Tigers (2-1) trailed Bucknell, which won the 2021 Patriot League championship and played in the NCAA Division I Tournament, 1-0 at halftime thanks to a goal by Reese Evans in the 39th minute. Evans stole the ball from a CC defender at the top of the box and rifled a shot just under the crossbar over Tiger goalkeeper Ally Wakeman.

CC's first-year head coach Keri Sanchez brought backup keeper Zahra Cheeseman into the game at the intermission, and the Tigers responded.

Morales evened the score in the 60th minute with a beautiful header at the far post off a corner kick from Ava Risser. Morales out-jumped everyone to record her first goal of the season and second of her career.

Enga then posted the first game-winning goal of her young career in the 74th minute to seal the victory. She took a pass from Haley Williams, moved around a defender, and found herself one-on-one with Bucknell keeper Kaylee Donnelly. Enga beat Donnelly from the middle of the box for her third career tally.

Each team attempted 16 total shots and the Tigers held a 9-7 advantage in shots on goal. Morales and Jordan Darrow led CC with two SOG apiece, while Teresa Deda had a team-high two for Bucknell.

Wakeman made a pair of saves in the first half, while Cheeseman had four in the final 45 minutes. Donnelly finished with seven saves for the Bison (1-1).

Colorado College hosts Army on Sunday, Aug. 28, at Stewart Field, beginning at 2 p.m.
