Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Athletic Communications

Wyoming Downs CC in Laramie

Maddie Chance scored two goals and Alyssa Glover had two assists to lead the Wyoming women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Colorado College Sunday afternoon in Laramie, Wyo.

Taylor Brook opened the scoring just 1:33 into the contest off a feed from Glover and Chance scored her first of the game to double the lead in the 22nd minute.

Makenna Kolson nearly cut the lead in half but her free kick in the 32nd minute clanged off the right post.

Regan Wallace had five saves in the first half, then gave way to Erika Upson for the final 45 minutes.

Chance made it 3-0 in the 49th minute, followed by Jamie Tatum just four minutes later and Sydney Miller closed out the scoring in the 78th minute.

Hayley Bartel had three saves for the Cowgirls, who outshot Colorado College 25-12 in total shots and 14-3 on target.

Lily Byrne, who hit the crossbar in the final 90 seconds, led the Tigers with three shots and Upson finished with three saves.

"Credit to Wyoming who came out with speed and energy and put us on our heels right away," head coach Keri Sanchez said. "We had trouble absorbing their attack and it caused us to go down by two early. Then, we had to chase the game, which causes us to be even more vulnerable in the back as the game gets stretched. I did like that we kept pushing for a goal at the end and Lily (Byrne) almost did it with a shot off the crossbar near the end."

The Tigers travel to San Jose, Calif., for a match against San Jose State on Thursday, Oct. 19, beginning at 8 pm (MT).
