Prince Leads Thrilling Rally Over San Jose State

Shalom Prince scored twice in the final 17 minutes to lead the Colorado College women's soccer team to a thrilling, come-from-behind 2-1 victory over San Jose State Thursday night in San Jose.

Prince notched her team-high fourth goal of the season in the 74th minute to even the game by knocking in a corner kick from Ava Risser past SJSU goalie Bente Pernot, then scored the game winner in the 84th minute, converting a pass from Haley Harnisch and beating Pernot for the first brace of her career.

SJSU's Sabrina Weinman opened the scoring with a free kick in the 63rd minute that found the upper left corner of the net past the sprawling arms of Tiger goalie Regan Wallace from 25 yards. That was the only blemish from Wallace all evening as she saved the other nine shots on goal by the Spartans.

Tiana Cello had a good look for the Spartans with 30 seconds remaining, but her just went just wide of the right post.

With the win, Colorado College improved 3-12-1 overall and 3-6-0 in the Mountain West, moving into a four-way tie for sixth place, while San Jose State fell to 3-8-6 overall and 1-5-3 in league play.

"We are so proud of our team tonight," head coach Keri Sanchez said. "We came out with a renewed energy and commitment to win and never lost faith. Our seniors stepped up their game and helped secure the win. It is just so fun to see their hard work pay off with a critical win."

San Jose State outshot the Tigers, 20-14, in total shots and 10-5 in shots on target. Lily Byrne and Erin Ewers led the Tigers with four shots apiece, while Prince had three and scored on both of her shots on target. SJSU's Cynthia Flores led all players with five shots and Pernot finished with three saves.
