Tigers Remain on the Road at San Jose State and Fresno State

Tigers Continue On The Road This Week
The Colorado College women's soccer team heads to California for a pair of Mountain West matches this week. The Tigers face San Jose State on Thursday, Oct. 19, beginning at 8 p.m. (MT), then Fresno State on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. (MT). Both matches will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network and CCTigers.com.

Last Time Out
The Tigers dropped a pair of conference games last week. On Thursday, Mia Casey notched a hat trick as Colorado State defeated CC, 3-0, in Fort Collins.  Casey opened the scoring in 18th minute, then extended the lead in the 27th minute. She finally got her third goal in the 66th minute to close out the scoring. The Tigers mustered just six total shots, with five of them on target. Regan Wallace had four saves before giving way to Erika Upson in the 74th minute.  On Sunday, Wyoming struck just 1:33 into the contest and cruised to a 5-0 victory over the Tigers.

Second Year For Head Coach Keri Sanchez
Keri Sanchez was named the eighth head coach in the history of the school's Division I women's soccer program in December of 2021. Sanchez, who won four NCAA National Championships as a player at the University of North Carolina, led the Tigers to a 7-7-5 record and their first appearance in the Mountain West Tournament since 2018. She brought 25 years of coaching experience to Colorado Springs that spans Division I and Division III. During her standout professional career, Sanchez played at the highest level. She notched 13 caps with the United States Women's National Team and played in the first-ever World Cup qualifying tournament in 1991.

2023 Captains
Seniors Shalom Prince and Alexis Wessler and junior Kaelin Enga have been named team captains for the 2023 season.

For The Record
Colorado College is 2-12-1 overall and 2-6 in Mountain West action entering this week's matches. The Tigers are in a three-way tie for 10th place in the Mountain West standings with both of this week's opponents. San Jose State is 3-7-6 overall and 1-4-3 in league play, after falling to Boise State, 1-0, and Utah State, 3-0, last weekend on the road. Fresno State, meanwhile, is 2-8-6 and 1-4-3 entering its match Thursday night against Air Force. The Bulldogs fell to Utah State, 2-0, last Thursday and lost to Boise State, 2-1, on Sunday.

All-Time Series vs. Opponents
Colorado College is 2-8-0 all-time against San Jose State. The Spartans beat CC twice last season, both by a 1-0 score, including the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Tournament. The Tigers are 2-4-3 against Fresno State, including a 1-1 draw last season in Fresno.

Prince leads the team with seven points (3g,1a), followed by Byrne with six (3g,0a). Prince and Byrne each have a team-high three goals, while Harnisch and freshman Tyler Rose lead the team with two assists apiece. Prince leads the Tigers with 23 total shots and 12 on goal. Wallace has started all 15 matches with a 2.50 goals-against average and .729 save percentage. She leads the Mountain West with 86 saves.

A Look At The Opponents
Bella Flochinni leads San Jose State with 15 points and six goals, followed by Taylor Phillips with 10 (5g). Bente Pernot has each has appeared in 15 games this season in net, collecting a 1.67 goals-against average and .767 save percentage. Clara Wilson tops Fresno State with six points (2g,2a), while Valentani Vivasn has played 16 games in goal with a 1.28 GAA and .758 save%.

Five League Matches With 2-1 Score
Five of CC's eight league games this season have finished with a 2-1 result.

Colorado College cplays its final match of the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 26 against Air Force in the 2nd Annual City For Champions Cup at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs. The match is schedule to begin at 6 p.m.
