Tigers Hand No. 11 Trinity First SCAC Loss Since 2021

The Colorado College volleyball team wrapped up its 2023 regular season with a pair of exciting victories on Saturday, including a three-set sweep over 11th-ranked Trinity University, 28-26, 25-23, 25-16.

The win over Trinity marks the highest-ranked opponent CC has defeated since #2 Trinity on May 1, 2021, in the 2020-21 SCAC title match. It was also Trinity's first SCAC regular season loss since March 6, 2021, a five-set loss to Colorado College.

Isabella Lipacis, Jenny Jenks and Meghan Gannon once again led the way on the court for CC. Lipacis posted a match-high 15 kills with just five errors, while Jenks had 32 assists against Trinity. Gannon, meanwhile, led the squad with 18 digs.

The first two sets were back and forth. CC held a 24-22 lead late in the first set only to see Trinity win three straight points to get to set point. However, three kills by Carolyn Dormady sealed the set for CC, 28-26.

Colorado College held a 24-19 lead in the second set, but the Texas Tigers won four straight to cut the lead to one before a setting error gave the set to CC.

CC jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the third set and never looked back.

If the opening match of the day, the Tigers defeated Schreiner in four sets, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19.

Lipacis posted a team-high 16 kills and 23 digs, followed by Dormady with 12. Jenks collected 44 assists and the team hit .161 for the match.

"We continue to get better every day," head coach Sharon Dingman said. "We continue to believe the goals we set during training camp are attainable. Today was a day of high level volleyball and we were the team that made big plays at big times."

The Tigers return to action at the SCAC Tournament, Nov. 10-11, in Georgetown, Texas. CC will either be the No. 2 or No. 3 seed.
