Lily Byrne scored twice in the first 12 minutes and
Regan Wallace made four saves to lead the Colorado College women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Nevada Thursday evening at Stewart Field.

The Tigers, who have won two of their last three games, improved to 2-9-1 overall and 2-3-0 in the Mountain West, while the Wolf Pack fell to 4-5-5 and 2-2-1.

Byrne opened the scoring in the fifth minute with her second goal of the season.
Shalom Prince sent a ball from midfield to
Haley Harnisch, who kept the ball in play along the goal line and found Byrne alone at the top of the box. She fired a shot past Nevada goalie Ally Larkin to the top right corner.

The senior from Davis, Calif., completed the first brace of her career in the 12
th minute.
Alexis Wessler started the play with a ball from 40 yards into the box. The ball deflected off a Wolf Pack defender and Larkin knocked the ball to Byrne, who put it in the open net for her team-high third tally of the season.

Byrne came close to a hat trick in the 29
th minute when she collected the ball at the top of the box, turned, and put a shot off the right post.

The Tigers outshot Nevada, 9-1, in the first half and 15-6 in the match. CC held a 7-5 advantage in shots on target.

Wallace played another solid game for the Tigers. The freshman from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., held the Wolf Pack at bay for the first 60 minutes, until Penny Murphy cut the CC lead in half. Wallace had three of her four stops in the final 45 minutes.

"The team is excited to earn their first home win of the season," head coach
Keri Sanchez said. "We started off the game really well. We attacked and defended with confidence and it was nice to have Lily score two quick goals. Nevada pushed hard to equalize in the second and we struggled at times, but we are happy we grinded out the win."

The Tigers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 8, against UNLV at Stewart Field, beginning at noon.
