The Colorado College women's basketball team ended their three-game road trip to the Pacific Northwest with a 70-56 win over Lewis & Clark in Portland, OR on Monday, Dec. 11.
Four Tigers scored in double digits led by SCAC Player of the Week
Zoë Tomlinson who was one rebound shy of another double-double. She finished with 18 points, nine boards, one block and three steals.
Kayla Mackel continues to impress as she was on the floor for 20 minutes (second longest amount this season) and dished out 15 points, three rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Freshman
Rose Koehler scored in double figures for the second time in her career. She finished with 11 points and three assists.
Audrey Bayston added 13 points of her own along with eight boards and two assists.
The Tigers didn't start hot, trailing at the end of the first quarter 11-13 after shooting 27.78 percent. The second quarter was a 180-degree turn in the right direction, as the Tigers shot 69.23 percent and outscored the Pioneers 22-10 to go into halftime with a 33-23 lead.
CC held Lewis and Clark to only four made shots and a 28.57 shooting clip in the second quarter.
In the third, the Pioneers would cut the double-digit lead down to five with 6:47 to play in the quarter before buckets made by Tomlinson, Mackel,
Isa Nelson Koehler and Bayston worked it back up to 11 points heading into the fourth.
The game wouldn't be brought back within single digits the remainder of the game as CC shot 50 percent and held L&C to 28.57 for the second time to finish the game.
The 6-3 start for CC heading into SCAC play is the best start since the 2009-10 season when the Tigers started the year with seven wins heading into conference play.
CC will kick off conference play as Texas Lutheran and Southwestern come to Colorado Springs from Dec. 15-17. On Friday, Dec. 15, the Tigers will play the Bulldogs inside Reid Arena at 7:30 p.m.
