Colorado College Falls to Schreiner University in SCAC Championship Quarterfinal

Fourth seeded Colorado College's season comes to a close with a 57-55 loss to the Schreiner University Mountaineers on Friday night at Calgaard Gym in San Antonio, Texas.

"I thought we played really hard tonight," coach Jeff Conarroe said. "[We] really battled on the defensive end of the floor. Put us in a position to have a chance to tie the game on the last posession."

Guards Trey Crawford and Dinari Boykin combined for 12 points after the first 20 minutes to send the Tigers to the locker room with a one-point deficit.

"We just turned the ball over too much and didn't shoot it as well we would have liked," Conarroe said.

Fifth seeded Schreiner shot 38.3 percent from the floor and went 9-for-12 from the free throw line. THe Mountaineers were led offensively by Kamden Ross with 20 points and Alex Dehoyos with 13.

Colorado College, which finished the season with a 12-14 record, was led offensively by Boykin who scored 15 points and seven rebounds. Crawford finished the game with 13 points.

"Its not that we lost after the outstanding season we've had," Conarroe said. "Its setting a foundation for the future of where Tiger Basketball can go. Really proud of these seniors, they really helped to transform the culture, but there's really been a legacy set in the last two years about how we do things and how we move forward. I'm excited to watch our program grow and get better and this was a vital experience for us."

Schreiner University will play top-seeded University of St. Thomas in the Semifinal match on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Calgaard Gym.
