Freshman
Luke Smith scored a career high three goals to lead the Colorado College men's lacrosse team to a 14-10 victory over the Rhodes College Lynx on Monday night at Washburn Field.
Smith scored two of his three goals during the first five minutes to keep the Tigers neck-and-neck with the Lynx.
Rhodes responded and traded goals with CC before a goal by
Winston Chodnicki at 10:51 in the second quarter started a 5-0 run for the Tigers to give them an 11-6 lead.
When the Tigers appeared to have secured their victory, Rhodes scored three unanswered goals with 5:17 remaining in the game to cut the deficit to 12-10.
Declan Maguire responded with his second goal of the night at 2:42, followed by
Charlie Faldi at 1:08 to score on a man-up opportunity to secure the Tigers 14-10 victory.
Maguire finished with two goals and an assist, while
Thomas Power struck for a pair of markers and set up a pair.
Chodnicki won 8-11 face-offs and picked up three ground balls for the Tigers.
Colorado College finished with the 38-19 edge in ground balls while Rhodes had the 42-40 advantage in shots.
Ben Anastos made 11 saves.
