Colorado College hockey play-by-play announcer Ken Landau was honored with a second-place award for "Best Sports Coverage by an Individual or Team" in a major market from the Colorado Broadcasters Association for the year 2022.
Landau, who just completed his 17th season as the "Voice of the Tigers," now has earned second-place honors four times – previously in 2008, '17 and '20 – along with five first-place awards from the CBA. Every Colorado College hockey game is broadcast on KRDO NewsRadio 105.5 and 92.5 FM/1240 AM, serving as the flagship station of the CC Tiger Sports Network.
Â
"Ken's commitment, not only to Colorado College Hockey, but to putting an outstanding broadcast on the air every game is commendable and truly sets him apart from the rest.," KRDO program director Andrew Rogers said.
A 1982 graduate of Michigan State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in telecommunications, Landau called the play-by-play for MSU hockey from 1979 through 1985, then again from 1990 through 1997. He also spent three seasons serving in a similar capacity at the University of Michigan.
Â
"It's always nice to be honored by your peers," Landau said. "I want to thank my producer, Chris Moyer, the best in the business, for all his hard work behind the scenes. Also a special thank you to
Kris Mayotte, his assistant coaches, staff and players for all of their help throughout the season."
Â
In 1992, Landau earned the Associated Press of Michigan broadcast award for best play-by-play. In 2003, he called College Sports Television's first-ever college hockey game ever for College Sports Television and hosted CSTV's wall-to-wall coverage of the Frozen Four in Buffalo.
