Former Colorado College women's soccer player Jacqui Hand was named to the New Zealand National Team that will compete at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, which begins later this month in Australia and New Zealand.

Hand, a 2022 graduate, is the first former Tiger to earn a spot on a World Cup roster and one of 10 New Zealand players making their World Cup debut.

The 5-foot-6 forward finished her career at Colorado College tied for 28th place in program history with 42 points and tied for 15th place with 18 career goals. She was named a second-team all-Mountain West selection three times.

Hand, a 2020-21 United Soccer Coaches all-region selection, made her international debut for New Zealand in a 5-1 loss to Canada in October of 2021. She scored her first goal on Nov. 27, 2021, in a 2-1 loss to South Korea.

New Zealand opens the World Cup on Thursday, July 20, against Norway at Eden Park in Hand's hometown of Auckland.
