Tigers Travel To Arizona State for Friday Match

Tigers Wrap Up Non-Conference Slate at Arizona State
The Colorado College women's soccer team travels to Tempe, Ariz., for its final non-conference match of the seaosn against Pac-12 opponent Arizona State on Friday, Sept. 15, beginning at 8 p.m. (MDT). The match will be streamed live on the Pac-12 Network.

Last Time Out
The Tigers dropped a pair of road matches last week, falling to Bucknell University, 5-2, on Sept. 7, and Army, 3-0, on Sept. 10. Senior Shalom Prince and junior Ava Risser scored against Bucknell but the Tigers allowed the Bison to score the final four goals of the match. Freshman Regan Wallace started both games and equaled her career-high 10 saves against Bucknell. Wallace played the first 74 minutes against Army before giving way to fellow freshman Erika Upson.

Second Year For Head Coach Keri Sanchez
Keri Sanchez was named the eighth head coach in the history of the school's Division I women's soccer program in December of 2021. Sanchez, who won four NCAA National Championships as a player at the University of North Carolina, led the Tigers to a 7-7-5 record and their first appearance in the Mountain West Tournament since 2018. She brought 25 years of coaching experience to Colorado Springs that spans Division I and Division III. During her standout professional career, Sanchez played at the highest level. She notched 13 caps with the United States Women's National Team and played in the first-ever World Cup qualifying tournament in 1991.

2023 Captains
Seniors Shalom Prince and Alexis Wessler and junior Kaelin Enga have been named team captains for the 2023 season.

Non-Conference Opponents
Colorado College will play teams from six different leagues during its seven-game non-conference schedule. Those leagues are the Conference USA (Louisiana Tech), Summit League (Denver), Pac-12 (Colorado, Arizona State), Big-12 (Kansas) and the Patriot League (Bucknell, Army).

For The Record
Colorado College is 0-5-1 entering this week's matches following its two losses last week. Arizona State is 4-1-3 after defeating Mountain West foe Utah State, 1-0, on THursday, and falling to Texas Tech, 1-0, on Saunday, both in Tucson.  

All-Time Series vs. Opponents
Colorado College is 0-2-0 all-time against Arizona State, including a 1-0 loss in double overtime in at Stewart Field on Sept. 17, 2021. The other match of the series was played on Oct. 22, 1999, a 2-0 ASU victory in Tempe.

Prince leads the team with two goals and four points, followed by fellow senior Alex Sandoval, sophomore Erin Ewers and Risser with one goal apiece. Senior Haley Harnisch, Enga and freshman Tyler Rose each have an assist. Prince leads the team with four shots on goal, while senior Lily Byrne paces the squad with 10 total shots. Wallace has started all six matches with a 2.98 goals-against average and .714 save percentage.

A Look At The Opponent
Enasia Colon leads Arizona State with nine points (4g,1a), followed by Savannah Maley with seven (2g,3a) and Suzuka Yosue with six (1g,4a). Colon has a team-high 22 total shots and eight on target. Paulene Nellis has played all 720 minutes in net with a 0.38 goals-against average and .900 save percentage.

Colorado College opens up Mountain West play against Boise State on Thursday, Sept. 21, at Stewart Field, beginning at 6 p.m. The Tigers will then host Utah State on Sunday, Sept, 24, beginning at 12 p.m.
