Tigers Open Mountain West Action vs. Boise State, Utah State

Tigers Open Mountain West Slate This Week
The Colorado College women's soccer team opens play in the Mountain West with a pair of home matches this week at Stewart Field. The Tigers host Boise State on Thursday, Sept. 21, beginning at 6 p.m., then Utah State on Sunday, Sept. 24, at noon. Both matches will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network and CCTigers.com.

Last Time Out
The Tigers wrapped up their non-conference slate last Friday with a 3-0 loss at Arizona State. Freshman Regan Wallace made eight saves before giving way in the second half to junior Zahra Cheesemanm who made three. ASU outshot Colorado College, 20-1, and put 11 shots on target.

Second Year For Head Coach Keri Sanchez
Keri Sanchez was named the eighth head coach in the history of the school's Division I women's soccer program in December of 2021. Sanchez, who won four NCAA National Championships as a player at the University of North Carolina, led the Tigers to a 7-7-5 record and their first appearance in the Mountain West Tournament since 2018. She brought 25 years of coaching experience to Colorado Springs that spans Division I and Division III. During her standout professional career, Sanchez played at the highest level. She notched 13 caps with the United States Women's National Team and played in the first-ever World Cup qualifying tournament in 1991.

2023 Captains
Seniors Shalom Prince and Alexis Wessler and junior Kaelin Enga have been named team captains for the 2023 season.

For The Record
Colorado College is 0-6-1 entering this week's matches following its defeat at Arizona State. Boise State is 2-1-5 after tying Oregon State, 0-0, on Sunday, Sept. 10, and Oregon, 1-1, last Thursday, both in Boise. Utah State, meanwhile, is 3-5-1 entering its match Thursday night at Air Force. The Aggies upset No. 1-ranked BYU, 1-0, at home last Saturday.  

All-Time Series vs. Opponents
Colorado College is 3-4-1 all-time against Boise State, including a 0-0 draw in Boise last season. The Tigers are 5-3-5 against Utah State and defeated the Aggies, 1-0, last year in Logan, Utah.

Prince leads the team with two goals and four points, followed by fellow senior Alex Sandoval, junior Ava Risser and sophomore Erin Ewers with one goal apiece. Senior Haley Harnisch, Enga and freshman Tyler Rose each have an assist. Prince leads the team with four shots on goal, while senior Lily Byrne paces the squad with 10 total shots. Wallace has started all seven matches with a 2.92 goals-against average and .714 save percentage. Wallace leads the Mountain West with 40 saves.

A Look At The Opponents
Carly Cross leads Boise State with 11 points (5g,1a) and is tied for second in the Mountain West for points and goals. She is followed by Kenzie MacMillan with 10 points (3g,4a). MacMillan leads the league with four helpers. Genevieve Crenshaw has started all eight games for the Broncos and has a 1.26 goals-against average and a .750 save percentage. Summer Diamond leads Utah State with seven points (3g,1a) and 12 shots. Diera Walton has started all nine games in net, posting a 1.17 GAA and .714 save percentage.

Colorado College continues Mountain West play against New Mexico on Thursday, Sept. 28, in Albuquerque, N.M., beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers will then play at San Diego State on Sunday, Oct. 1, beginning at 1 p.m. (MT).
