Boise State Rallies Past Tigers

Carly Cross and Ashly Berge each scored a second-half goal to lead the Boise State women's soccer team to a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Colorado College in the 2023 Mountain West opener Thursday evening at Stewart Field.

The Tigers opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Haley Harnisch punched home a rebound after Boise State goalie Genevieve Crenshaw saved a shot by Erin Ewers from the left side. Crenshaw made the initial save, then knocked the ball right to Harnisch, who blasted a shot from 10 yards for her first tally of the season and CC's first goal in three contests.

Cross evened the score early in the second half with her sixth goal of the campaign. Morgan Paduer started the play with a short corner to Morgan Stone. Stone returned the ball to Paduer along the goal line and she sent a crossing pass to Cross, who beat CC goalie Regan Wallace into the lower left corner.

Berge's game-winner came in the 68th minute and was her first goal of the season. Kenzie MacMillan sent a cross in front of the net and Berge got her right foot on it and beat Wallace.

The game was very even on the stat sheet. Boise State held a 13-12 advantage in total shots, but CC led in shots on goal, 6-5. Crenshaw made five saves, while Wallace had three. The Tigers had eight corner kicks to four for Boise State.

MacMillan led all players with four shots, followed by Cross and CC's Shalom Prince with three apiece.

The Tigers return to action on Sunday, Sept. 24, against Utah State, beginning at 12 p.m., on Stewart Field.
