Tigers Travel to New Mexico, San Diego State

Tigers Continue Mountain West Slate This Week
The Colorado College women's soccer team heads out on the road for a pair of Mountain West matches this week. The Tigers play at New Mexico on Thursday, Sept. 28, beginning at 7:30 p.m., then at San Diego State on Sunday, Oct. 1, at noon (MT). Both matches will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network and CCTigers.com.

Last Time Out
The Tigers opened Mountain West play last week with a couple of matches at Stewart Field. CC lost to Boise State on Thursday and Utah State on Sunday, each by a 2-1 score. Senior Haley Harnisch scored her first goal of the season early in the match against Boise State, but the Broncos scored twice in the second half to claim the victory. Brett Tsamasfyros notched her first goal of the campaign on Sunday against USU to even the game at 1-1 in the 62nd minute, but the Aggies scored the game winner in the 75th minute. Freshman Regan Wallace played all 180 minutes with three saves against Boise State and two against Utah State.

Second Year For Head Coach Keri Sanchez
Keri Sanchez was named the eighth head coach in the history of the school's Division I women's soccer program in December of 2021. Sanchez, who won four NCAA National Championships as a player at the University of North Carolina, led the Tigers to a 7-7-5 record and their first appearance in the Mountain West Tournament since 2018. She brought 25 years of coaching experience to Colorado Springs that spans Division I and Division III. During her standout professional career, Sanchez played at the highest level. She notched 13 caps with the United States Women's National Team and played in the first-ever World Cup qualifying tournament in 1991.

2023 Captains
Seniors Shalom Prince and Alexis Wessler and junior Kaelin Enga have been named team captains for the 2023 season.

For The Record
Colorado College is 0-8-1 overall and 0-2 in Mountain West action entering this week's matches. New Mexico is 3-1-4 overall and 0-0-2 in league play after tying San Jose State, 1-1, last Thursday and Fresno State, 0-0, on Sunday, both on the road. San Diego State, meanwhile, is 6-2-2 and 1-0-1 entering its match Thursday night against Air Force. The Aztecs won at Fresno State, 5-1, last Thursday and tied San Jose State, 1-1, on Sunday.

All-Time Series vs. Opponents
Colorado College is 8-11-0 all-time against New Mexico, including a 3-0 victory  last season at Stewart Field. The Tigers are 3-6-4 against San Diego State. The teams battled to a 3-3 draw last year in Colorado Springs.

Prince leads the team with two goals and four points, followed by Harnisch and sophomore Erin Ewers with three points (1g,1a) apiece. Freshman Tyler Rose leads the team with a pair of assists. Prince leads the team with 13 total shots and five on goal. Wallace has started all nine matches with a 2.67 goals-against average and .692 save percentage. She is third in the Mountain West with 45 saves.

A Look At The Opponents
Presley Devey (2g) and Margaux Clarke (1g,2a) lead New Mexico with four  points apiece. Myah Isais follows with three points (1g,1a). Allie Davis has appeared in eight of the Lobos' nine matches in the net and has a 0.85 goals-against average and an .860 save percentage. Denise Castro leads San Diego  State with seven points (3g,1a) and 12 shots. Alexa Madueno has appeared in all 10 games in net, posting a 1.26 GAA and .806 save percentage.
