CC's Winning Streak Ends in Seguin Against TLU

The Colorado College women's basketball team's eight-game winning streak ended on Sunday night in Seguin, Texas, following a 51-59 loss to Texas Lutheran.

CC was led by Zoë Tomlinson, who finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds. This was the New York native's 16th double-double of the season, which continues to lead all of NCAA DIII.

The Tigers had only six bench points compared to TLU's 30. CC did a good job limiting the Bulldog starters to only 29 points between the five players. However, Angelina Sotelo scored a team-high 18 points, and the Bulldogs capitalized on a solid first half to hand CC their first loss of 2024.

CC shot only 25.00 percent from the floor in the first quarter, while TLU shot 50.00 percent. The Tigers went into the second quarter down 16-7. In the second, CC outscored TLU 12-10 and cut the deficit to seven points at the break. Freshman Isa Nelson led all players with five points in the quarter; she finished the game with five points and one rebound.

The Tigers' offense improved in the third and fourth quarters, but they struggled from long range overall. CC finished games 2-13 from deep.

In the final 10 minutes of the game, CC managed to cut the lead down to four points with 1:28 to play after going on a 17-9 run over the eight minutes in the fourth. Healy Bledsoe converted on two free throws to make it a 55-51 contest, but the Bulldogs made another field goal and converted at the charity stripe to close the game.

CC drops to 14-5 (8-2 SCAC) on the season and currently sits second in the SCAC standings behind Trinity, which is 11-1 in conference play.

The Tigers return to Reid Arena on Friday. Feb. 2 to host Centenary at 7:30 p.m. CC is 7-1 at home this season.
