12th-ranked Colorado College completed a season-opening weekend sweep over Northern Michigan with a convincing 6-1 victory Saturday night at Ed Robson Arena.
Noah Laba collected a career-high four assists as the Tigers are 2-0 for the third straight season.

Ty Gallagher had a goal and two assists, while
Gleb Veremyev,
Max Burkholder and Philip Blais-Savoie all posted a goal and a helper on Saturday.

Drew Montgomery opened the scoring just 1:24 into the contest with an unassisted goal. NMU turned the puck over in its own zone and Montgomery collected it a beat Wildcat goalie Ethan Barwick cleanly with a wrist shot from the left circle.

The Tigers doubled the lead at the 2:52 mark when team captain
Stanley Cooley notched his first of the season. Gallagher sent the puck from the right circle to the far side where
Charlie Strobel deflected it to Cooley, who beat Barwick from the bottom of the left circle.

Ryan Duguay put NMU on the board midway through the first with a shot from the top of the left circle that
Kaidan Mbereko initially saved but the puck flew up in air, hit Mbereko's shoulder and fell behind him into the net.

The Tigers regained their two-goal lead at the 12:45 mark of the second period when Blais-Savioe notched the first goal of his career. Veremyev knocked down a Wildcat pass near the blue line, Laba picked it up and found Blais-Savoie, who fired a writer from the top of the left circle that went top shelf.

Veremyev started a three-goal outburst in the third period by scoring his second goal in as many games just 21 seconds into the frame. He took a centering pass from Laba and put the puck past Barwick.

Gallagher scored at the 3:28 mark and Burkholder notched a power-play goal with 1.5 seconds remaining in the game for the final margin. Laba assisted on each of CC's final four goals.

Mbereko finished with 11 saves as the Tigers outshot NMU, 36-12. Barwick made 30 saves.

The Tigers are idle next weekend before traveling to Alaska Anchorage for a weekend series, Oct. 25-26.
