The Colorado College women's soccer team was downed 6-0 at Utah State on Thursday, Oct. 17, in Logan, Utah. The Tigers were caught by a hungry Aggies team coming off their first conference loss; they fell behind early and couldn't catch up.
CC was led by
Tyler Rose, who had a shot and a shot on goal. Four players logged shots against USU, led by Rose.
Alexis Wessler,
Brett Tsamasfyros, and Kaeln Enga rounded out the score sheet.
The Aggies struck first in the second minute when Alex Day snuck the first goal past
Regan Wallace. The Tigers collected themselves defensively for the rest of the first half and kept it a 1-0 score game heading into the halftime break.
CC's first shot came in the 22nd minute when Wessler aimed at the top portion of the net but went high.
Tsamasfyros logged her shot two minutes later, but it was blocked. Enga added the final shot of the first half, but it was off-target.
USU came out of the second half with a similar tempo and scored in the 49th minute to take a 2-0 lead.
CC's only shot in the second half came in the 53rd minute when Rose laced a shot towards the bottom right corner of the net, but it was saved.
USU didn't relent offensively despite 17 offside calls. The Aggies added five second-half goals to win 6-0.
The Tigers drop to 5-8-3 (1-4-2) and look ahead to the second half of the weekend road trip at Boise State on Sunday, Oct. 20th, at noon MT.
