Tigers Fall To Broncos In Boise

The Colorado College women's soccer team battled hard but fell to the first-place Boise State Broncos by a final score of 2-0 on Sunday, Oct. 20th.

CC fought BSU to a scoreless first half and held the scoreless for another 19 minutes into the second half before the Broncos scored twice in three minutes to secure the victory.

Sophomore Kendall Memoly led the Tigers with two shots (one on the net), but CC had more looks than what the stat sheet alludes to. CC applied pressure to BSU early in the second half before the Broncos ultimately broke the scoreless statement in the 65th minute when Olivia Collins scored her first goal of the season.

CC opened up the game by being forced to make a couple of saves as Regan Wallace denied the Broncos twice in the sixth minute. Memoly recorded the first Tiger shot of the day in the 15th minute.

The other first-half shot for the Tigers came via Alex Sandoval in the 37th minute as Sandoval found herself with a loose ball in front of the net after it bounced off a Bronco defender. The senior captain tried to go top shelf but barely missed high on what was one of the best looks of the day for CC.

In the second half, Memoly recorded her second shot, a strike at the top center portion of the net, but the BSU goalkeeper Genevieve Crenshaw saved it.

In the 65th minute, BSU made some nice passes and found Oliva Collins onto the right side of the field. Goalkeeper Regan Wallace dove to her left to make the effort save, but the ball was out of her reach.

Two minutes later, the Broncos scored on a set-piece to take the 2-0 lead.

CC fired two more shots in the 84th and 87th minutes, including a shot on net by Kaelin Enga, but it was saved.

The Tigers drop to 5-9-3 and set their sites on the final home stand of the season this Thursday against San Jose State.

Kickoff against the Spartans at Stewart Field is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT.
