Tigers Host Fresno State For Senior Day

The Colorado College women's soccer team prepares to cap its home schedule by facing the Fresno State Bulldogs on Sunday at Stewart Field. The Tigers will celebrate their 11 graduating players on Senior Day.

Last Time Out

CC returned to the win column on Thursday with a 3-0 rout of San José State. The Tigers ended their two-game losing streak and improved their home record to 6-1-3.

Brett Tsamasfyros, Kendall Memoly and Finley Schoenbeck all scored, marking the third three-goal game of the season for CC.

Tsamasfyros struck first in the 59th minute after Kaelin Woodruff launched a corner kick to the far post. Ashley Stewart bounced it back towards Brett, who found the back of the net.

Memoly made it a 2-0 contest in the 74th minute after lacing an excellent ball for her fourth goal of the season. Gracie Huebner fed Memoly for the assist, her third of the year.

Seven minutes later, Emily Hitt and Woodruff fed Schoenbeck an excellent ball. The first-year player spirited down the pitch and scored on the right side of the net for the third goal of her young career.

Tiger Tails

With her goal on Thursday, Tsamasfyros became the first Tiger since 2019 to have more than five goals in a season. The San Mateo, Calif. native is having a career season and currently leads the Tigers with her six goals, 36 shots and 15 shots on goal.

All of CC's wins have been on home turf. The Tigers' only loss at Stewart came on Sept. 29 against Colorado State.  CC outscored its opponents 16-6 at Stewart Field and allowed only 0.60 goals per game. The Tigers have been highly efficient at shooting the ball at home,
possessing a shot-on percentage of 0.467, while their opponents have a shot accuracy of 0.323.

Defensively, Regan Wallace earned the fifth shutout of her sophomore season. She has shut out opposing offenses to only 0.6 goals per game at home and made 36 saves.

Emily Hitt and Ashley Stewart earned their first career assists against the Spartans. The two seniors earned some memorable moments in the last weekend on home turf.

The Tigers currently sit ninth in the Mountain West standings. Only the top six teams will advance to the Mountain West Tournament, which is scheduled to start on Nov. 3rd in San Diego, CA.

CC's best path to the tournament is to win the last two games of the regular season, including the City For Champions Cup against Air Force on Wednesday, Oct. 30th.

Scouting The Opposition

Fresno State enters Sunday tenth in the Mountain West standings with a 6-8-3 overall record (1-6-2 MW). The Bulldogs are coming off a 2-0 win over Air Force on Friday in Colorado Springs, their first conference win of the season.

FSU started the year with five wins entering conference play, but it struggled through the first eight games of conference play. However, it did collect some notable ties against then-No. 10 Utah State and UNLV.

Kaelyn Miller leads the team with six goals and is second with 15 points (three assists). Ciara Wilson is the point leader with 16 (5g, 6a).

Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and will follow the CC men's soccer game, which is scheduled for 11 a.m. Senior Day festivities will follow the conclusion of the game.
