The Colorado College women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of No. 10 Gustavus Adolphus. The Gusties utilized an impressive second half to win 78-72.

CC came out of the gate strong and shot the basketball significantly well in the opening quarter. The Tigers shot 58.3 percent from the floor, holding the Gusties to only 21.1 percent. CC went on a 9-2 run to open up the game and limited the Gusties to only one made field goal in the opening five minutes of play.Â

Tomlinson led the Tigers with a season-high 28 points and 16 rebounds. It's her third double-double of the year and she finished the night with 39 minutes, three assists, a steal and a block.Â

Zoë now has 969 career rebounds. She is only 31 shy of becoming the third Tiger in program history to surpass 1,000 career rebounds.Â

Tomlinson and
Healy Bledsoe combined for 11 points in the first quarter.Â

The Tigers kept the same tempo in the second quarter, racking up their best shooting period of the evening, making 62.5 percent from the floor.Â

Tomlinson led the way with nine points in the second quarter as the Tigers surrendered the lead and trailed 28-27 at the halftime break.Â
Gustavus Adolphus scored 27 points in the third quarter and appeared to take over the game after building their lead up to 13 points with 4:56 remaining. Junior
Kayla Mackel, who didn't score in the first half, exploded on the stat sheet in the second half, shooting 7-10, including 4-7 from long range.Â

The Houston native scored all of her 21 points in the third and fourth quarters and kept the Tigers within breathing distance heading into the fourth. CC trailed 56-50 as the final quarter tipped off. CC shot an outstanding 66.67 percent from the floor, its best shooting quarter the evening, but the Gusties kept pace and maintained their lead.Â

GAC extended its lead to 11 points with 4:08 to go, but a lay-up by Tomlinson and a three-pointer by Mackel with 3:15 remaining made it 70-64. The Gusties returned with consecutive baskets of their own and sealed the game as time would eventually expire on a Tiger comeback.Â

Bledsoe was the third Tiger to finish in double figures. The Bend, Ore. native scored 14 points, five rebounds, a steal, and a block.Â

Isa Nelson combined for 10 points, four rebounds and seven assists.Â

CC returns home on Friday to host the Colorado College Fall Classic, starting with a matchup against Mary Hardin-Baylor at 1 pm inside Reid Arena. The Tigers will then face Pacific Lutheran on Saturday, Nov. 30.Â
