Klavs Veinbergs recorded a hat trick and
Fisher Scott and
Gavin Lindberg each chipped in with a goal and an assist as No. 8-ranked Colorado College rolled to an 8-0 exhibition victory over UNLV Sunday afternoon at Ed Robson Arena.

The Tigers dominated the first period, putting three goals on the board and outshooting the Rebels, 16-3. Veinbergs opened the scoring just 1:33 into the contest when he deflected a pass from
Brady Cleveland past UNLV goalie Doug Wakelyn.

Noah Laba doubled the lead with a power-play goal at 6:43 of the opening frame. Laba took a pass from
Bret Link, skated towards the right circle and placed a wrist shot past Wakelyn.
Riley Stuart made it 3-0 following tic-tac-toe passes from Scott and Lindberg.

Lindberg and Veinbergs each collected a goal in the second period to make it 5-0, then Scott,
Zaccharya Wisdom and Vienbergs scored in the final five minutes of the game for the final margin.

The Tigers held a 48-12 advantage in shots on goal, with Doug Wakelyn, a Colorado Springs native and son of CC's career saves leader Marty Wakelyn (Class of 1982), finishing with 40 saves, including 15 in the middle period.

Kaidan Mbereko started the game in net for CC and saved three shots before giving way to
Carsen Musser (nine saves) for the final two periods.

The Tigers were 1-for-2 on the power play, while UNLV, which made the national championship game of the American Collegiate Hockey Association last season, was 0-for-1.

The Tigers return to action with their final non-conference series of the season, Jan. 3-4, against Augustana University at Robson Arena.
