Senior Day was a sweet one for the Colorado College women's basketball team as it downed the University of Dallas 74-49 on Sunday inside Reid Arena in front of a packed house.
The Tigers finish the regular season 18-7 (12-4 SCAC) and is the No. 3 seed in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament next weekend in Shreveport, La. CC will face the Univ. of Dallas, the No. 6 seed, on Friday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. (CT).
Three players scored 19 points, including
Rose Koehler, who surpassed her previous career-high 16 points. The freshman finished the game with seven rebounds, three assists and a block.
Zoë Tomlinson nabbed another double-double, to no one's surprise. The junior center dished out 19 points, 13 rebounds, two assists in a block. She finishes the regular season with 22 double-doubles, the most in Division III and second in the NCAA.
CC honored seniors Audrey Baytson and
Emma Nawara prior to the start of the game. Bayston recorded 19 points, three boards, two assists and a steal in her final game at Reid Arena.
Nawara got the start and logged 19 minutes, three points, eight boards, an assist and two steals.
The Tigers never trailed to the Crusaders and played to their strengths in the final game of the regular season. CC shot 45.9 percent from the floor and limited Dallas to a 27.9 FG percentage. UD made only three shots in the opening quarter while the Tigers streaked out to a 20-8 lead heading into the second.
At the half, CC led 36-20, but the third quarter showed why this team is ready for the SCAC Tournament. The Tigers scored 26 points and made four three-pointers in the third to build their lead to as many as 28.
CC eventually cruised to a 25-point win and finished the regular season 11-1 inside Reid Arena.
The Tigers outrebounded the Crusaders 52-30, including 17-10 on the offensive boards. CC scored 38 points in the paint and 12 points off 13 turnovers.
With the SCAC standings set, the Tigers will enter the first round as the No. 3 seed, with Trinity and Texas Lutheran as the top two spots.
