Colorado College collected four of the NCHC's major awards Thursday night, led by head coach
Kris Mayotte winning the Herb Brooks Coach of the Year Award, at the league's Awards Celebration in St. Paul, Minn.
Â
The four awards won by Colorado College were the most by any NCHC team.
Â
Mayotte, in his third season at CC, led the Tigers to their first 20-win season in 13 seasons and a tie for third in the NCHC standings, the program's best league finish since tying for third in the WCHA in 2008-09. Â
Â
He is the first Colorado College head coach to win a conference Coach of the Year award since Don Lucia won the award in 1995-96.
Â
Meanwhile, goaltender
Kaidan Mbereko was unanimously selected as the league's Goaltender of the Year. Mbereko, a first-team all-NCHC selection and a finalist for the NCHC Player of the Year, led the conference with a 2.15 goals-against average, a .927 save percentage and 14 wins in league games only.
Â
The sophomore from Aspen, Colo., was named the NCHC Goaltender of the Month for December, January and February, and earned the National Goaltender of the Month award for February. He was selected as one of three finalists for the Mike Richter Award earlier today.
Â
Fellow sophomore
Noah Laba won a pair of awards Thursday night, Defensive Forward of the Year and the Three Stars Award. A Player of the Year Award finalist, he led the league with 16 goals, six game-winning goals and a +19 rating in league games only and also was a first-team all-NCHC selection.
Â
A center from Northville, Mich., Laba, who collected 45 points and was named First Star seven times, is the first Tiger to earn the Defensive Forward of the Year award and first to win the Three Stars Award since Nick Halloran in 2018.
