Ken Landau Wins Colorado Broadcasting Association Award

Colorado College hockey play-by-play announcer Ken Landau was honored with a second-place award for "Best Sports Coverage by an Individual or Team" in a major market from the Colorado Broadcasters Association for the year 2023.

Landau, who just completed his 18th season as the "Voice of the Tigers," now has earned second-place honors five times – previously in 2008, '17, '20 and '22 – along with five first-place awards from the CBA. Every Colorado College hockey game is broadcast on KRDO NewsRadio 105.5 and 92.5 FM/1240 AM, which serves as the flagship station of the CC Tiger Sports Network.

"Ken Landau is a top professional and a joy to work with," KRDO program director Dan Cochell said. "His play-by-play is outstanding and the award is well deserved."

A 1982 graduate of Michigan State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in telecommunications, Landau called the play-by-play for MSU hockey from 1979 through 1985, then again from 1990 through 1997. He also spent three seasons serving in a similar capacity at the University of Michigan.

"We are so grateful for Ken's service to our program," CC Vice President and Director of Athletics Lesley Irvine said. "His passion for the Tigers and commitment over the years have made him a key part of our community. We are really proud of him."

In 1992, Landau earned the Associated Press of Michigan broadcast award for best play-by-play. In 2003, he called College Sports Television's first-ever college hockey game ever for College Sports Television and hosted CSTV's wall-to-wall coverage of the Frozen Four in Buffalo.

"It is always an honor to be recognized by your peers," Landau said. "It is a bigger honor to work with all the great people at CC; the coaching staff, players, the entire athletic department, KRDO and the great Tiger fans."
