The Colorado College women's soccer team announced its 2024 schedule today. The season slate features a Big Ten Champion, a trio of consecutive in-state matchups, nine non-conference games, and an electrifying Mountain West schedule.
CC will play 20 regular season games, capped by the annual City For Champions Cup against cross-town rival Air Force on Oct. 30 at Weidner Field. The 2024 Mountain West Tournament is scheduled from Nov. 3-9 in San Diego, Calif.
"We are excited for this coming fall," head coach
Keri Sanchez said. "The nonconference schedule will challenge us and prepare us to compete well in the Mountain West. The players are also looking forward to playing at home more. Lastly, it's always amazing to end the regular season at Weidner Field against Air Force for the C4C Cup."
The Tigers kick off the regular season with a trip north to Big Sky Country to battle the University of Montana in the season opener on Thursday, Aug. 15. After the Grizzlies, CC will play their first and only neutral game of the regular season against Iowa, which finished No. 24 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll at the end of the 2023 season. The Hawkeyes won the Big 10 Tournament and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
CC's first homestand of the year begins against South Dakota State (Aug. 22), the first-ever matchup between the two programs. From Aug. 25 to Sept. 1, CC will play three straight games against in-state opponents, starting with home games versus Northern Colorado and UCCS. Then, a trip up I-25 against Denver introduces the month on Sept. 1.
The final three non-conference games start with Southern Utah (Sept. 5) on the road before UC-Santa Barbara (Sept. 8), and Buffalo (Sept. 12) come to Stewart Field.
This fall's Mountain West Conference schedule embarks with back-to-back home games against Wyoming (Sept. 26) and Colorado State (Sept. 29)
CC's other home MWC contests will consist of a pair of games against defending Mountain West regular season champion San Diego State (Oct. 10) and New Mexico (Oct. 13). Then the final regular-season home games versus San Jose State (Oct. 24) and Fresno State (Oct. 27).
The road conference slate includes two matchups in the desert against UNLV (Oct. 3) and Nevada (Oct. 6), followed by a trip west to Utah State (Oct. 17) and reigning MWC Tournament champ Boise State (Oct. 20).
The regular season commences on Oct. 30 under the lights of Weidner Field, home of the Colorado Springs Switchbacks, in the City For Champions Cup against the Air Force Academy. Last season, the Tigers and Falcons battled to a draw. Air Force will be the home team in this year's rendition.
