Tigers Can't Get Past Thunderbirds In Cedar City

The Colorado College women's soccer team couldn't get the shots to fall in their favor on Thursday night in Cedar City, Utah. The Tigers were downed by the Thunderbirds of Southern Utah by a final score of 2-0.

CC came out of the gates firing, getting off multiple shots in the first five minutes. Tyler Rose took the first two shots, one on target in the third minute. Kylie Smith followed suit with her first in the ninth minute, but it went wide right.

The game would bleed into the 43rd minute before the Tigers got another shot off, Brett Tsamasfyros recorded her first shot, but the match went into the break a 0-0 tie.

In the second half, the tie continued for the first six minutes of the half before the Thunderbirds broke the draw with a goal from Sarah Assumma in the 52nd minute.

Assumma was found again five minutes later, in the 57th minute, on a nice break for Southern Utah. Assumma split the defense with an assist from Whitney Gardner, who assisted on both Thunderbird goals.

The Thunderbirds outshot the Tigers 12-6, including 7-2 in the second half. Kendall Memoly and Emma Smith both missed shots in the second half for CC.

The Tigers had four corner kicks and committed only six fouls to the Thunderbirds' seven.

Goalkeeper Regan Wallace finished the game with three saves.

The Tigers drop to 3-4-0 on the season but return home to Stewart Field on Sunday to host UC-Santa Barbara at noon MT. CC is 3-0 at home and will look to make it 4-0 against the Gauchos on Sunday.
