The Colorado College volleyball team took sixth-ranked Emory University to the limit in the first match of the 2024 East/West Classic Friday in St. Louis, Mo. The Tigers fell to Emory in five sets before falling to Tufts University in the nightcap.

In the opening match of the day, the Tigers were a few points away from their second straight win over a Top 15 team, but Emory rallied to win the final 10 points and take the fifth and final set, 15-10.

After falling 25-14 in the first set, the Tigers roared back to win the next two sets, 25-20 and 25-14. Emory edged CC, 25-23, in the fourth to force the deciding set.

Camille Sherrill led CC with a season-high 16 kills, followed by
Carolyn Dormady and
Steph Brown with 13 apiece. Brown's 13 winners was a career-high.

Dormady collected a team-high 17 digs and
Meghan Gannon had 15, while
Annie Steger posted 42 assists.

The Tigers garnered a .242 hitting percentage, compared to just .209 for Emory.

In the second match of the day against Tufts, who received votes in this week's AVCA Top 25 poll, the Tigers fell 25-16, 25-16, 25-18. Sherrill led CC with six kills, while Gannon had a team-high seven digs.
