No. 13 Tigers Fall at Omaha

Fisher Scott collected his first career goal and Kaidan Mbereko had 27 saves, but it wasn't enough as No. 13 Colorado College dropped a 3-1 decision to Omaha Saturday night at Baxter Arena.

Harrison Israels scored the game-winning goal early in the third period and Simon Latkoczy stopped 33 shots as the Mavericks handed the Tigers their fifth straight loss.

Omaha (10-10-1, 6-4-0 NCHC) struck first in the final minute of the first period for the second consecutive night. Zach Urdahl caused a turnover just inside the Maverick blue line, found himself all alone on a breakaway and beat Mbereko on the stick side with 42.2 seconds remaining in the frame.

The Tigers (10-9-1, 4-5-1) evened the score when Scott scored his first career goal at the 14:53 mark of the second period. Scott's one-timer from the top of the right circle deflected off a Maverick defender and into the net behind Latkoczy. Drew Montgomery and Stanley Cooley assisted on the play.

Israels scored the game-winner just 1:47 into the third period. Isaiah Norlin sent a shot from the point off the back wall and the puck went right to Israels all alone in the slot and he beat Mbereko.

Miles Hillman closed the scoring with an empty-netter with 38.3 seconds remaining. Hillman and Israels each posted a goal and an assist for the Mavericks.

The Tigers outshot Omaha, 34-30, and each team was 0-for-4 on the power play.

Colorado College returns home to face Minnesota Duluth in a weekend series that begins on Friday, Jan. 17, beginning at 8 p.m.
