CC Set To Battle Centenary & Ozarks

The Colorado College women's basketball team hosts Centenary and the University of the Ozarks on Friday, Jan 24, and Sunday, Jan. 26. CC (13-2) looks to remain atop the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference standings. 
 
Last Time Out
 
CC ousted Concordia (TX) and McMurry last weekend to remain a perfect 7-0 at home to start the year. On Friday against the Tornadoes. Zoë Tomlinson became the all-time leading rebounder in program history after she dished 14 rebounds and was one basket shy of surpassing her career-high of 37 points.
 
Junior Kayla Mackel finished with 19 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. It's her first career double-double as the Houston native dished five three-pointers, three assists and a block.
 
On Sunday, The Tiger hunkered down defensively in the second half, holding the War Hawks to only 27.69 percent from the floor, including 15.38 percent in the fourth quarter.  Tomlinson led the way with 34 points, a season-high 18 rebounds, and tied her career-high four blocks and four steals.
 
Senior Healy Bledsoe led the team with three steals and finished with three rebounds, two assists and two points. Laura Strenk handed out six assists, four rebounds, and two points. Avery Johnson played 18 minutes and finished with three points, a rebound, and an assist. Kyle Rowland had three rebounds, two assists, a steal and two points. 
 
"Her"-Story
 
Tomlinson made CC history against Concordia by breaking the program career rebounding record, formerly held by Lorna Kollmeyer. Zoë has 1,120 entering this weekend, averaging 14.0 rebounds per game, fifth in the nation and first in the SCAC. 
 
She was named the SCAC Player of the Week and a member of the D3Hoops.com National Team of the Week after finishing the weekend with an average of 35 points, 16 rebounds, one assist, three blocks, and two steals per game. 
 
Shooters Shoot
 
Sophomore Isa Nelson has the best three-point shooting percentage in the SCAC. The Edina, Minn. native converts on 49 percent of her long-range shots. 
 
Kayla Mackel leads the SCAC in three-pointers per game (2.8). 
 
CC has the conference's second-best free-throw percentage (74.6) and field goal percentage (43.2). 
 
Scouting The Opposition
 
Centenary enters Friday with a 2-12 record and is 1-5 within conference play. The Ladies are led by freshman forward Shyanne Phillips, who averages 13.2 ppg. 
 
The Ladies have lost three straight contests, with their last win on Jan. 12 over Dallas. 
 
Ozarks is 11-4 on the year and will play at the University of St. Thomas on Friday before coming to Colorado for Sunday's game. The Eagles' senior guard Naomi Smith leads the team with 12.2 points per game. 
 
The Eagles are the best three-point shooting team in the conference, making 32.9 percent of their long-range shots.
