Tigers Host Celts In SCAC Matchup

The Colorado College women's basketball team carries a 9-1 record into 2025 as the Tigers host St. Thomas on Saturday, Jan. 4 inside Reid Arena at noon MT. 
 
Last Time Out
 
CC went 2-0 in the D3Hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada, to close out the 2024 calendar year. The Tigers downed Susquehanna 74-45 and followed it up with a 76-61 victory over SUNY New Paltz. 
 
Against the River Hawks to tip-off the weekend, Senior Zoë Tomlinson knabbed her seventh double-double after leading all players with 26 points and 18 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards. Tomlinson finished with two assists and three blocks. Junior Kayla Mackel followed with 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists, a block and a steal. 
 
CC's defense held Susquehanna to a 27.7 shooting percentage and never trailed over the 40 minutes of action. 
 
Two days later, against SUNY New Paltz, Senior Healy Bledsoe recorded a career-high seven steals. Tomlinson recorded a season-high 18 rebounds along with 24 points, four rebounds, and three blocks. Kayla Mackel led all scorers with a career-high 26 points. 
 
All-Tournament Team
 
Zoë Tomlinson was named to the D3Hoops.com Classic All-Tournament team after leading the Tigers with 25 points, 18 rebounds, and three assists per game. The New York native recorded a double-double in each contest, giving her eight on the season, tied for fourth-most in the nation. 
 
Tomlinson leads the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and is fourth in the country with 14.2 rebounds per game. She is also second in the conference with 22.3 points per game. 
 
What A Start
 
CC's 9-1 start is the best through 10 games since the 1976-77 season, where the Tigers finished 20-4. 
 
Scouting The Opposition
 
St. Thomas (2-6) has played two games since losing a close 57-54 contest to Colorado College on Dec. 14 in Houston. 
 
The Celts battled DI Houston Christian on Dec. 17 and barely fell short 46-44. UST closed out 2024 with a 61-49 loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor on New Year's Eve.
