Tigers Blank Bulldogs, Remain Unbeaten

The Colorado College men's soccer team remained unbeaten in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 2-0 victory over Texas Lutheran on Friday night.

CC's unbeaten streak extends to 11 straight to start the year, extending the existing program record.

Senior captain Rex Karjian and sophomore Teddy Opler led the offensive charge with goals while junior goalkeeper Alex Wolter pitched another shutout.

Karjian collected a season-high five shots, three on goal and his goal in the 33rd minute. The captain took it on his own and chipped it in over the entire defense for his second goal of the season.

Opler finished with one shot and one goal despite being highly active in the attacking zone. CC outshot TLU 17-16, including 7-5 shots on goal.

The Tigers took eight shots in the opening half, and Karjian took all of CC's first three shots on goal. His third attempt was a beat on the defender, and he laced the ball into the right side of the net.

Wolter made his first two saves before the end of the half, and the Tigers took a 1-0 lead into the break.

In the second, the Bulldogs' offense picked up steam, outshooting the Tigers 10-9, however, three of which were on target, and Wolter saved all of them.

CC's first shot on goal was Opler's when he was inside the box with a TLU defender and the goalkeeper in the 64th minute. Sophomore Will Jones made a cross to Opler, who won the battle and slipped it past for his seventh goal of the season.

TLU managed to get only one more shot on goal for the remainder of the game and Wolter finished the day with five saves. He now has eight this year, tied for second most in the nation.

CC will host Concordia (TX) for Senior Day on Sunday, Oct. 12th at noon.
