Tigers Force Tie Against Austin College

The Colorado College men's soccer team came away with a tie against Austin College on Friday night thanks to an 87th-minute equalizer from sophomore forward Teddy Opler. CC outshot the 'Roos 34-6, putting 12 on frame over 90 minutes.

The 34 shots are the most in the game since Oct. 25, 2024, when the Tigers had 35 shots against Schreiner.

Austin struck first in the 10th minute, when Pierce Wear scored after the 'Roos sent in a long throw-in that Wear was able to put in the back of the net.

CC was relentless in the attack for the rest of the game but couldn't put anything away until the very end. Opler led all players in shots with 10, a career-high for the sophomore. CC earned 11 corners to Austin's zero and forced 11 saves out of their keeper.

Opler finally found the back of the net in the 87th minute off an assist from sophomore Will Jones. His eight goals on the season put him just one tally behind freshman Ewen Robertson's team-leading nine.

Junior Jack Hilliard racked up five shots, three SOG and played all 90 minutes. Goalkeeper Alex Wolter made one save in the net as CC held the 'Roos to only two shots on goal.

With the tie, the Tigers remain unbeaten through their first 13 games, continuing their program record start to a season, and their years-long SCAC unbeaten streak stays alive at 35 games.

CC finishes up the away slate against LeTourneau University on Sunday at 12 p.m. CST.
