Tigers Split on First Day of Double Dual Meet

The Colorado College men's swimming and diving team opened the season on Friday with the first day of a double dual with Grinnell and Augustana in Grinnell, Iowa.

The Tigers hold a 99.5-61.5 lead over Augustana, but trail Grinnell, 101-63, after Friday's events.

Junior Nico Rimer won the 1-meter diving event with 239.8 points, while freshman Logan Loveday captured the 400 individual medley race with a time of 4:19.88.

Junior Kole Peterson, senior Edmund Davis and sophomore Sam Allen finished second in the 400 IM, 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke, respectively, while Allen joined senior Dax Sherwood and fellow sophomores Andrew Colgan and Liam McCarthy on the runner-up 400 medley relay team.

"It was a great first night our team really showed up to compete," head coach Jen Buffin said. "Logan Loveday and Edmund Davis led the way on the men's side with standout swims in the 400 IM and 500 free. Nico Rimer's 1-meter win capped off a great evening. We're excited to carry this momentum into tomorrow and put ourselves in position for our first team wins of the year."

The double dual continues on Saturday, Oct. 18, as Friday's scores will carry over.
