Schoenbeck Scores Twice, Tigers Battle To A Draw With Broncos

Sophomore midfielder Finley Schoenbeck recorded her first career brace as the Colorado College women's soccer team tied with Boise State 2-2 on Thursday night.

Schoenbeck scored in the first two minutes of the game, then again in the 76th minute to tie the game. The opening goal by Schoenbeck is the quickest goal of the season, coming only 63 seconds into the game.

"It was a tale of two halves," head coach Keri Sanchez said. "I thought Boise State had a really good response to our early goal. In the second half, it was a fantastic response from us. I thought we battled better and were better with those first and second balls, and it was a great fight to get back into it."

Junior Tyler Rose fed Fin from midfield, and a beautiful run by the Texas native left her with open grass to rifle a left-footed shot into the top right corner of the net.

It's Schoenbeck's third goal and Rose's second assist of the season.

Kendall Memoly, Sophia Mayne and Schoenbeck led the team with two shots each.

Boise State responded just four minutes later in the sixth minute when leading scorer Kenzie MacMillan knotted the game at 1-1.

The Broncos jumped in front in the 17th minute when Madie Donovan scored after an assist from MacMillan.

CC took two more shots in the first half. Mayne had a good look in the 18th minute that went high. Memoly recorded her first shot in the 34th minute, but it was blocked.

The Tigers were down 2-1 and outshot 9-3 at the halftime break, but the Broncos committed eight fouls, only to CC's five.

In the second half, Boise State kept the pressure on, taking the first five shots of the half.

Mayne put a shot on net in the 62nd minute that was saved. The next shot for the Tigers was Schoenbeck's goal. Cassamajor's cross found Schoenbeck on the far side of the net, who drilled the ball into the back of the net for the equalizer.

Cassamajor put one more shot on net in the 82nd minute that was saved, and ended up being the chance for either team before time expired, and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

CC moved to 3-4-4 on the season and will host Utah State on Sunday at noon. The Aggies were picked to finish first in the Mountain West preseason polls.
