Tigers Draw With Aggies, Record Fourth Shutout This Year

The Colorado College women's soccer team battled Utah State to a 0-0 draw on Sunday afternoon at Stewart Field.

It's the fourth shutout this season for goalkeeper Regan Wallace and the CC defense. Wallace made three saves against the Aggies.

"We had a great defensive effort today," head coach Keri Sanchez said. "I thought we started the game on the front foot and put them under pressure. I love that we earned a shutout and that we created some opportunities in both halves."

Sophomore Finley Schoenbeck led all players with three shots, one shot on goal and played 85 minutes. CC put up nine shots (two on goal) compared to USU's 12 shots (three on goal).

In the opening minutes, sophomore Dayleigh Bos had the first shot of the game for CC that was wide right in the fifth minute.

CC's first great look on net came in the ninth minute when Charlotte Strabel put a shot on net from a corner kick that USU goalkeeper Taylor Rath was able to save in the top right corner of the net.

The Tigers had four corner kicks over the length of the game.

Sophia Mayne recorded her first shot in the 11th minute that went over the crossbar. CC put three shots against USU before the Aggies responded in the 19th minute. The Tigers added two more shots from Nadia Cassamajor and Schoenbeck before the end of the half. They outshot the Aggies 5-3 in the opening 45 minutes.

In the second half, USU outshot the CC 9-4, but only two were on net, both of which Wallace saved.

Bos recorded her second shot in the 49th minute, which went wide left of the net. 13 minutes passed before Schoenbeck recorded CC's next shot attempt that went to the bottom right corner of the net; however, it was saved by Allee Grashoff.

Memoly and Schoenbeck recorded two more shots in the 68th and 80th minutes. USU had two shots on net in the 84th and 88th minutes to try and break the draw, but Wallace easily read them both and preserved the shutout.

CC moved to 3-4-5 (0-1-3 MW) and collected another point in the conference standings. The Tigers will head north to take on Colorado State on Thursday, Oct. 9th at 4 p.m.
