The Colorado College men's soccer team routed McMurray University 10-0 on Friday in its final home game of the season. It was the most goals in a game since CC's 11-0 win against Cornell College in 2008.
The victory extends the Tigers' unbeaten streak to 15 games, now the second-longest in program history. CC is now 9-0-6 (6-0-3 SCAC) on the year and moved into sole possession of first place in the conference standings with the win.
Freshman
Ewen Robertson, the team's leading goalscorer, scored just three minutes in off an assist from sophomore
Will Jones.
Robertson was one of five goal scorers as the Tigers outshot the War Hawks 25-14, including 14-7 on goal. Robertson led the team with five shots.
He followed it up five minutes later with another, before scoring his third of the game in the 24th minute off an assist from senior
Rex Karjian. It was the first CC hat trick since 2019 and brought Roberston to 12 goals on the year. His seven points were enough for a new career high.
Junior
Dylan Rich put one away just a minute later with a one-time shot from just inside the box for his second of the season. Karjian and Jones recorded assists on the play, Jones' second on the day, a career-high.
Sophomore
Teddy Opler notched his eighth and ninth goals of the season in quick succession, scoring in the 49th and 52nd minutes, the first coming off Karjian's third assist of the game, a career-high for the senior. Opler now has nine goals on the season, which is second on the team and the SCAC.
Robertson dished out an assist to junior
Jack Hilliard in the 54th before an own goal brought the total to eight in the 58th.
Freshman
Whit Hynes scored his second of the season in the 75th minute off an assist from freshman
Jack Purvis, who has scored or assisted in each of the last three games.
Freshman
Wyatt Kimball scored the tenth and final goal of the night in the 79th minute, the first of his career.
Junior
Alex Wolter recorded his tenth shutout of the season, putting him one away from tying the single-season program shutout record.
"Our finishing was very good tonight and the guys did well to convert our early chances and get on top of the game," head coach Scott Palguts said. "Overlooked in the scoreline is the stellar play of
Alex Wolter in goal. He made a few outstanding first-half saves to provide us a nice cushion going into halftime."
The Tigers head to Texas tomorrow to face Schreiner in Kerrville, Texas, on Sunday at 12 p.m. central.
