CC Rolls Past Schreiner, Extends Unbeaten Streak To 16

Goals from senior Rex Karjian, junior Jack Hilliard and sophomore Teddy Opler lifted the Colorado College men's soccer team over Schreiner University 4-1 in Kerrville, TX.

CC (10-0-6, 7-0-3 SCAC) extended its unbeaten streak to 16 games. It's the longest streak to start the season without a loss in program history and the Tigers are two games shy of tying the program record for longest unbeaten streak in team history (18 games).

Karjian scored in the ninth minute on a solo effort, his third of the season. It capped a five-point weekend for the captain after collecting a career-high three assists two days prior against McMurry.

CC scored its second goal in the 26th minute on an own goal by the Mountaineers after Hilliard made an excellent run on the net and redirected the ball off a Schreiner defender into the left side of the net.

The Tigers outshot the Mountaineers 9-5, including 6-4 shots on goal. Hilliard led the team with three shots (two on goal). His second SOG came in the 50th minute after he stole the ball from a Schreiner midfielder and rifled it past the goalkeeper for his fifth goal of the year.

Later in the 58th minute, Opler made the game 4-0 when he and sophomore Will Jones pressured the Schreiner defense, stole the ball from the center back, and Opler slid it past the goalkeeper for the goal. It was Opler's 10th goal of the season, which is the second-most in the SCAC.

Jones got the assist on the goal, his sixth of the season and third this weekend.

Junior goalkeeper Alex Wolter allowed only one goal in the 88th minute and finished the game with three saves.

CC is second in the SCAC standings with 24 points, one behind Texas Lutheran's 25 points.

The Tigers have a chance to secure the No. 1 seed in the SCAC Tournament with a win over the University of Dallas on Saturday, Nov. 1, and if the Bulldogs tie or lose in their season finale against Concordia (TX) on Friday, Oct. 31.
