The Colorado College men's soccer team beat Centenary 3-1 in a comeback win that saw Junior
Jack Hilliard, senior
Luke Stefanski and freshman
Ewen Robertson score for the Tigers.
Â
CC outshot Centenary 17-3, including 9-1 shots on goal. Hilliard took a season-high six shots and led all players with four SOG. Robertson and sophomore
Teddy Opler followed with four shots each.Â
Â
Centenary went ahead in the 24th minute off a back-post tap-in from a low ball across the six-yard box.Â
Â
CC earned a penalty about ten minutes later, and Hilliard put it away to equalize the game at 1-1.Â
Â
The game was disrupted at the beginning of the second half due to a power outage at the field and resumed approximately half an hour later.Â
Â
The Tigers struggled to get the go-ahead goal for most of the half, despite outshooting the Gents 7-1 in the first half and 10-2 in the second.Â
Â
The breakthrough finally came with just eight minutes to go when Stefanski put away a cross from Hilliard. It was Stefanski's second-straight game with a goal, and Hilliard's second straight with an assist.Â
Â
Robertson got taken down in the box in the final minute and put away the ensuing penalty kick with just three seconds left. The goal is his team-leading ninth in nine games, which makes him tied for 15th most in the country.Â
Â
CC extended its SCAC unbeaten streak to 31 straight games, now 3-0 in conference play this season.Â
Â
The victory put the Tigers atop the SCAC, tied for first with St. Thomas, who they're set to face on Sunday in Texas at 12 p.m. CT.Â
