Tigers Outpaced By Pfeiffer In Virginia

The Colorado College men's basketball team was defeated by Pfeiffer University by a final score of 91-86 after a back-and-forth battle in Hampden-Sydney, VA. 
 
CC (2-2) outscored the Falcons 51-46, but was unable to complete the comeback. 
 
Senior Asher Nofziger scored a season-high 27 points and recorded his first double-double of the season after grabbing 14 rebounds. He finished with one assist and one block. Nofziger also made 11 of 14 attempts at the charity stripe. 
 
Junior Christian Drummond went 50 percent from three-point range (3-6) and tied his career-high of 15 points. The Colorado Springs native shot 50 percent from the floor (6-12) and also collected four rebounds, one block and a steal. 
 
Senior Russell MacFarlane added 13 points and three rebounds in his 22 minutes on the floor. Freshman Kyle Kihlberg was the last Tiger to score in double digits with his 10 points. He finished with seven rebounds and an assist. 
 
CC jumped out to a 19-10 lead with 12:45 remaining in the first half. The Tigers controlled the pace of pay and went on a 10-3 run to build their biggest lead of the night. Pfeiffer rallied and gained a 22-21 advantage with 8:00 left in the half. 
 
Drummond gave the Tigers back the lead less than a minute later with one of his three three-pointers. However, the Falcons closed out the half on a run and led 45-35 at the break. 
 
In the second half, both teams shot 50 percent from the floor. Pfeiffer was able to maintain the lead by shooting 66.7 percent (6-9) from long range. CC kept within arm's length with 15 made free throws and 21 points from Nofziger. The Denver native shot 71.4 percent (5-7) from the floor and made 11 free throws in the second half. 
 
CC cut the lead down to 73-70 with 5:29 remaining after another Nofziger bucket inside the paint, but Pfeiffer hit another three-pointer in response and was able to work the lead back up to as many as nine in the final minute. The Falcons held on to the 91-86 win as CC fell to 2-2 on the season. 
 
The Tigers return to action on Sunday, Nov. 23 against Mary Baldwin at noon MT.
