No. 19 Tigers and Miami Skate to 4-4 Draw

Wilson Björck scored twice for the first time in his career and Kaidan Mbereko made 27 saves, but Miami evened the game with 10.1 seconds in the third period as No. 19 Colorado College and Miami produced a 4-4 tie Friday night in Oxford, Ohio.

Neither team scored in the five-minute 3-on-3 overtime frame, then Miami won the shootout to gain the extra point in the NCHC standings.

The Tigers (8-7-2, 2-5-2 NCHC) had a great opportunity right out of the gate as Gavin Lindberg found himself all alone on a breakaway in the first 20 seconds, but Miami goaltender Matteo Drobac stopped his attempt as well as a rebound chance by Tomas Mrsic.

Miami's Maximilion Helgeson opened the scoring at the 11:02 mark of the first period with a wrister from the high slot that found the upper left corner past Mbereko.

Following CC's first two early shots, the Tigers attempted just two more shots on goal in the period as Miami held a 10-5 advantage after 20 minutes.

CC held a decisive possession advantage through the first 11 minutes of the middle frame, collecting the first five shots on goal in the period, but Miami notched 11 of the last 13 in the period, including a goal by David Deputy at the 16:50 mark to make it 2-0.

The two Tiger shots were another clean breakaway by Lindberg with the Tigers shorthanded, but Drobac saved that one as well, and a power-play goal by Björck with 21 seconds remaining in the second period. Björck took a pass from Colton Roberts and fired a one-timer from the right circle past Drobac to cut the lead to 2-1.

Riley Stuart evened things up just 2:19 into the third period when his shot from the top of the right circle deflected off a Miami defender's stick, then off the post and in the net.

Deputy put the RedHawks back in front for good with a power-play goal at 6:24 of the final period, but Brayden Schuurman tied it up again at the 14:30 mark, and Björck notched his second of the game 59 seconds later. Bret Link assisted on each of those goals for his second multi-point game of the season.

With Drobac on the bench in favor of an extra attacker, Casper Nassen scored with 10.1 seconds left in the third to send the game to overtime.

Miami (10-6-1, 2-6-1 NCHC) put the puck in the net at the 2:15 mark of overtime, but CC challenged the play and the call was overturned for goaltender interference.

The Tigers were stopped on all three shootout chances before Ilia Morozov put the puck past Mbereko to give Miami the extra point.

Drobac finished with 19 saves for Miami, which capitalized on only one of its five power-play opportunities, while the Tigers were 1-for-2. The RedHawks held a 31-23 shot advantage.

The teams will wrap up the weekend series on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Steve Cady Arena, beginning at 6 p.m. (ET).
