The Colorado College men's basketball team downed Centenary 68-47 Friday evening in Shreveport, LA, to move to 12-10. CC held the Gents to only 29.5 percent from the floor and put themselves in a prime position to secure a spot in the SCAC Tournament.
Senior
Asher Nofziger tallied another double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while adding three assists and two blocks.
Sophomore
Ty Hendler was the other Tiger in double-digits, racking up 10 points, six boards, four assists and two steals.
There were only two lead changes when CC regained a 17-16 lead in the first half; they never trailed for the remainder of the game.
The Tigers got a 5-0 lead after a bucket from Nofziger and a three-point play from
Devin Philio. They build the advantage up to six after a jumper from
Will Hopkins to make it 13-7 with 12:02 remaining in the half.
Centenary jumped out to their only lead with 8:23 remaining.
Orion Samikoglu put CC in the forefront a few minutes later with a layup. Another bucket by Nofziger on the ensuing play started a run that allowed the Tigers to go up 27-20 at the break.
CC dominated in the second half, shooting 55.17 percent from the floor, and nine Tigers contributed to the scoring effort. The Tiger defense held Centenary to only 33.33 percent shooting while making seven threes on the offensive end.
Senior
Edgar Romero went 3-5 from long range in the second half to lead the scoring efforts with nine points. He finished with four rebounds.
CC outrebounded the Gents 46-26 and shot 45.8 percent from long range.
The Tigers will look to clinch a spot in the SCAC Tournament on Sunday when they battle the University of the Ozarks at 1 pm MT in Clarksville, AR.
