Peyton Murphy scored a career-high five goals and No. 19 Colorado College scored the final five goals of the game as the Tigers' women's lacrosse team defeated Claremont Mudd-Scripps, 16-11, in the 2025 season opener.

Murphy added three assists for a personal-best eight points while
Sofia Mancino and
Charlotte Iler each added three goals and Cassidy Schnauffer made 12 saves.

The game was back-and-forth in the first half, with the teams tied at 3-3 after the first quarter and 7-7 at halftime. A goal by Claremont's Summer Matsik put the Athenas ahead 7-4 with 6:10 remaining in the second quarter, but the Tigers responded with goals from
Meilani Molina, Mancino and Murphy to pull even at the break.

After Ella Broan gave Claremont an 11-10 lead with 10:12 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Tigers roared back with five straight goals to clinch the victory. Mancino started the action by tying it up with 7:08 left in the game, followed by goals from Iler, Molina,
Grace Bean, Murphy and Mancino with the final goal with 1:42 left in the contest.

Schnauffer made a couple of outstanding point-blank saves in the fourth quarter, one on Maya Mihara with 5:20 left and one on Kaia Scott with 3:00 remaining, to seal the win.

Matsik joined Grace Minturn, Maggie Griffis and Amelia Ulmer with a team-high two goals apiece for Claremont (3-2), while goalie Holly Shankle made eight saves. Julia Ryan was 29 of 31 on draw controls on Sunday.
